A milestone in preserving Buenaventura’s heritage! Introducing the First “Living Recipe Book” of Traditional Confectionery

Jun 6, 2026

At the Fundación Jefatura Femenina del Hogar (FUNDAJEFEHOGAR), with Tax ID 901860259-8, we share with deep joy and institutional pride the culmination of a historic process for the cultural heritage of the Colombian Pacific. As the implementing organization for the National Cultural Coordination Program (Project Registration No. C4838-2026), we have fulfilled each of the commitments in our roadmap with absolute rigor, transparency, and within the established timelines.

Today we officially present our first “Living Recipe Book,” the valuable tangible outcome of the “Sweets of Memory in Buenaventura” initiative. This document serves as a key methodological tool for the documentation, visibility, and intergenerational transmission of the ancestral knowledge of our midwives and tradition bearers.

The Beginning of an Investigative Journey

We would like to emphasize that this “Living Recipe Book” represents our first initiative and the beginning of our research in the region. We are aware of the immense cultural wealth that Buenaventura holds; for this reason, we view this document as a starting point, a solid foundation that we will continue to build upon and expand in the coming years.

Our medium-term goal is to continue this rigorous field research to supplement every piece of knowledge and every life story, until we consolidate this effort into a definitive book on culinary heritage—a comprehensive work that preserves, honors, and commemorates the historical memory and intangible culture of our Afro-descendant communities..

Acknowledgments to Institutions

This achievement was made possible thanks to the invaluable financial and methodological support of the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Knowledge—National Program for Cultural Collaboration. We also extend our deepest gratitude to the various institutions, partner organizations, and community leaders who joined us with determination on this path toward well-being and preservation. Within this cookbook, we have dedicated a special section to recognize and highlight the valuable contribution of each of these strategic partners who made this social fabric possible.

With the completion of this project, FUNDAJEFEHOGAR reaffirms its technical and administrative capabilities, positioning itself before national entities as an exemplary, responsible organization committed to the social and cultural development of the Pacific region.
