Live Coverage: La Vereda Campo Hermoso at the Buenaventura Farmers’ Market

Jun 6, 2026

On May 15, 2026, our Fundación Jefatura Femenina del Hogar participated in the Farmers’ Market, organized by the Buenaventura District Mayor’s Office on the Boulevard.

This event served as an invaluable platform for strengthening food sovereignty and economic autonomy among women in our region. On this occasion, our participation had a special focus: we acted as a bridge connecting the countryside directly to the city.

Vanessa Valencia: A Leading Figure and Ambassador for Her Region

As our foundation’s guest of honor, we were joined by Vanessa Valencia, a resident of the Campo Hermoso hamlet on the Dagua River.

Vanessa is a key partner for our foundation, as she is the one who grows and supplies us with the top-quality ingredients we use to make our traditional Pacific Coast sweets. However, on this occasion, Vanessa was not there as a supplier, but as the star of the show.

We wanted her to be the one to directly offer the public all the products of the land, the fresh harvest, and the agricultural bounty she produces through hard work on her land. Our goal was clear: to allow attendees to learn firsthand about the origin of the products they consume and to support the direct economic livelihood of a rural woman entrepreneur.

Our commitment to rural women

For the Fundación Jefatura Femenina del Hogar, this initiative is an essential part of our mission:

  • Visibility: Recognizing the value of women’s work in rural areas.
  • Autonomy: Creating spaces where they can sell their products without intermediaries.
  • Food Sovereignty: Strengthening the ties between rural and urban areas, ensuring local and responsible consumption.

Although we weren’t selling our traditional sweets this time, we feel deeply proud to have accompanied Vanessa at this event. We hope she’ll join us again soon, and at future fairs we’ll be ready to delight you with our treats as well!

Thank you to everyone who visited the booth and supported the work of our rural women. We continue working for the development and autonomy of our region! #VamosMásAllá
